Rilo Kiley - The Execution of All Things
This one is one of those albums that’s great on the first listen and continues to grow on you over time. Jenny Lewis has the perfect delivery, so perfect that I would entrust her with my spiritual guidance. To me, the high point of this album is “A Better Son or Daughter,” a rousing piece of divine inspiration. I think if everyone listened to this just once a day, the world would be a much better place. “The Good That Won’t Come Out” is a great example of that perfect delivery. “Hail to Whatever” must have something subliminal going on in it, because as unassuming as it is, it has a powerful effect on the listener. “With Arms Outstretched” starts out with pretty harmonics and evolves into an audio version of a group hug. It’s addictive.
