Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
I’m sorry I had overlooked this album. I was so stuck on YHF that I missed this lovely sleeper. It’s more stripped bare than YHF, and therein lies its beauty. “Either Way” describes a Zen-like acceptance of the uncertainty of love. “Maybe you still love me, maybe you don’t, either you will or you won’t. Maybe you just need some time alone. I will try to understand. Everything has its plan, either way.”
“Sky Blue Sky” - “With a sky blue sky, this rotten time wouldn’t seem so bad to me now.” So true. How a grey sky amplifies melancholy.
“Hate It Here” - A song about after she’s moved out. “What am I gonna do when I run out of shirts to fold? What am I gonna do when I run out of lawn to mow?” We fall into habits with lovers, and when they leave, or when we do, the routine is disrupted. What do we do?
